Temporary change to fit notes

For Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), where employees go off sick on or after 10 December 2021, employers can only ask employees for proof of sickness (such as a fit note) after 28 days of sickness (including non-working days). Proof of sickness cannot be requested earlier than 28 days.

Fit notes do not have to be provided for DWP benefit claims until 27 January. This will not affect claims to benefit.

These changes are to give GP’s more time to work on the Coronavirus (Covid-19) booster programme.

If you are concerned about your health condition, you should continue to see your GP.

Routine work

Dear Patients,

We are pausing all routine work while maintaining our services for looking after acutely unwell people over the winter.  We will carry on looking after all children and adults with respiratory illnesses, people at risk of admission while maintaining a safe working environment.

We are also hoping to take part in the Covid vaccination programme to protect our practice population from the emerging new variant.

We will carry on providing telephone appointments and after suitable triage, face to face appointments as necessary.

We have vulnerable elderly and young patients. Please help up keep us all safe by adhering to social distancing and wearing masks.
